Equine Services

               Equine Services,,,

Vaccinations and deworming,, are key parts to a healthy horse.

If your interested in a great guideline for deworming and vaccines please feel free to call us and we can help you chose what’s right for you and your horse. We have protocols for adult, stallion , broodmare, and foals.

Fecal egg counts,, should be done  one to two times yearly to ensure your deworming program is working to the highest extent.

Dental care, is also very important for your horse’s health. We offer services to float teeth in which we recommend one to two times yearly depending on the needs of your horse.

Artificial insemination, is also available with frozen and cooled semen.

With frozen semen when the mare is close to ovulation she will be examined up to four times daily as insemination will be performed within six hours after ovulation.

Semen has an indefinite storage life when frozen. The stallions semen will be stored in liquid nitrogen at the insemination center, and will be thawed in a water bath immediately prior to the insemination.

With cooled semen most breeders will inseminate mares within 12 hours of receiving shipped semen. Motility and viability decreases dramatically within 24 hours post collection in semen of many stallions.

WE DO NOT COLLECT FROM STALLIONS, YOU CAN HAVE IT SHIPPED HERE

  • Fertility Breeding Soundness Exam that can be done to check for any infections or abnormalities.
  • Ultrasound, to check the progress of the pregnancy(also done in Bovine).
  • Coggins and Health Certificates, in which we can have a faxed copy of the coggins within 24 hours and original up to 5-8 business days.
  • Colic treatment in our indoor facility.
  • Mare and foal care in which we can do:

Plasma transfers:

The most common treatment for failure of passive transfer is to administer a plasma transfusion. This involves placing an IV catheter in your foal’s neck, and slowly administering a unit of equine plasma through a catheter. Plasma contains antibodies from a donor horse that has been tested and is free of diseases. An added advantage to plasma is the ability to “hyper-immunize” the plasma-that is, use vaccines in the donor horse to increase the proportions  of specific antibodies in the plasma.

  • Blood tests ran in our hospital:
    • IGG-Is the most common class of immunoglobulin. It is present in the largest amounts in blood and tissue fluids.
    • CBC- Total count of all cells present broken down into: white blood cells, red blood cells, band and segmented neutrophils, lymphocytes, monocytes, eosinophils, basophils, and platelets. Hemoglobin concentration. Plasma protein.
    • Chemistry Profile- Analyzes enzymes for kidney and liver function as well as  electrolytes.

* Our hospital is equipped with indoor/outdoor stalls *
